When a family member is under the weather or suffering from discomfort, he deserves the attention of a caring, competent physician with the skills to diagnose his ailment and the compassion to treat him with tenderness.
The veterinary physicians at Abel-Keppy Animal Hospital and Clinics have been chosen for their total dedication to animal health as well as for their professional skills. Our veterinary staff combines a broad base of specialties and advanced training with a shared commitment to quality care.

Dr. Ken Keppy is a native of the Quad Cities area. He grew up in a nearby farming community and, along with his three brothers, he worked on the family farm throughout his youth. While pursuing his pre-veterinary education at St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, he worked first for a local veterinarian, then as a medical technician at St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport.
Dr. Keppy continued his education at the Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames where he received his DVM in 1972. As a veterinary student, he continued working as medical technician at both the Veterinary Medical Research Institute and the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
After graduation, Dr. Keppy returned to the Quad cities to practice veterinary medicine. In 1974 he formed a partnership with Dr. William Abel, a respected Quad Cities veterinarian. The two doctors operated Abel-Keppy Animal Hospital jointly until Dr. Keppy became President in 1989.
Dr. Keppy has served as past Director of the Scott County Humane Society and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Scott County board of Health and Vice-Chair of the CASI board. His professional affiliations include:
Dr. Keppy and his wife, Lois, have a daughter, Amanda and sons Peter, Nick and Kris. Other family members include Zoey, a border terrier and Chihuahua named Lucy.

Dr. Manwiller grew up in Ames, Iowa in the shadow of one of America's most prominent veterinary schools. After receiving his B.S. degree in Zoology, he proceeded to earn his DVM from Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Other family members include Zoey, a border terrier and Chihuahua named Lucy.
Dr. Manwiller's professional experience is quite varied and includes considerable work with reptiles and small mammals as well as dogs and cats. His areas of special interest include laser surgery, orthopedics, and reptile medicine and surgery. He is a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society, the IVMA, and the AVMA.
Dr. Manwiller and his wife Rita reside in Davenport with their son, Lucus, daughter Nichole, a Pit Bull named Casey and two cats named Buster and Pepper. His spare time pursuits include various outdoor interests, reading, and family activities.

Dr. Spencer grew up in Bettendorf, IA. After graduating from Bettendorf High School, she attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University. She moved to Schaumburg, IL after becoming Dr. Spencer, DVM in 2001 and practiced Veterinary Medicine at a small animal hospital near Chicago.
Dr. Spencer, now Dr. Spencer-McShane, moved back to the Quad-City area to be closer to her family. She resides in Bettendorf with her husband, Paul, and daughters, Genevieve and Isabella, plus one dog, two cats, and four goldfish.
Dr Spencer-McShane specializes primarily in small animals; rabbits, ferrets, and various rodents. She has a love for surgery and uses ultrasound as her preferred diagnostic tool. She considers improving her skills through continuing education paramount to her success in providing care for her patients.
In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her daughters.

Dr. Rall joined Abel-Keppy Animal Hospital in 2008. She is a 1995 graduate of Iowa State University and has worked in several small animal practices in Iowa. Moving to the Quad Cities was like moving home, as Dr. Rall hails from Clinton, originally.
As a child, she was always interested in animals; always trying to fix the broken or injured. Pursuing a careere in veterinary medicine just came naturally. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is interacting with and educating clients.
Dr. Rall has four rescued cats of her own at home: Jinks, Smidget, Joey and Chooey, so it should come as no surprise that cats are her favorite animal. She fits in well at the Abel-Keppy Animal Care Center and our three clinic cats!
